Join us in the penthouse of the Graybar Building as we team up with fast-growing tech startup Adaptive Management for the first event in our "Data Smart" series. The panel will feature top data minds from Enigma, Spotify, Grubhub and others.

Event Overview: Data presents businesses with tremendous challenges and opportunities. We're hosting a conversation with some of the top data minds around to understand how companies are tackling data challenges and getting to the answers that matter more quickly. We'll discuss:

Patrick Hagerty

Chief Data Scientist, Adaptive Management


Patrick Hagerty is the Chief Data Scientist for Adaptive Management. Prior to Adaptive, Patrick was the Director of Research at In-Q-Tel, developing and implementing deep learning algorithms for automating satellite imagery analysis, DNA sequencing, and cyber security. Patrick has over a decade of experience in algorithm development for high performance computing, cryptographically secure computation, and quantum computing as Applied Research Mathematician at the National Security Agency. Patrick has a Ph.D in Mathematics from the University of Michigan.

Kevin Thompson

VP of Engineering, Adaptive Management


Kevin Thompson is the Vice President of Engineering at Adaptive Management. Prior to Adaptive, Kevin worked at Tiger Management developing high-value data sources and associated infrastructure to support the investment research process. Kevin also worked at Vulnerability Research Labs as a software developer primarily doing network security work. He began his professional career at the National Security Agency where he performed cryptanalytic research. Kevin has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Science in Engineering from Johns Hopkins University.

Brad Schneider (Moderator)

Founder & CEO, Adaptive Management


Brad Schneider is the Founder and CEO of Adaptive Management. Throughout his career, Brad has focused on using alternative data to improve decision making and prediction. Prior to founding Adaptive Management, Brad spent over 12 years as an equity investor, most recently working as a Portfolio Manager at Tiger Management. He was also the co-founder of predictive analytics company InfoLenz. Brad received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Christian Heinzmann

Lead Data Engineer, Grubhub


Christian is the Lead Data Engineer for Grubhub, overseeing their vast volumes of data in traditional and Big Data warehouses. His work supports Grubhub's mission to instill a data-driven mindset throughout the company. Christian has worked in data focused roles for more than 10 years. Past roles include Head of Data Engineering for logistics startup Zoomer and tech lead for the Data Services group for eMoney Advisor (acquired by Fidelity).

Thomas Moran

Lead Data Scientist, Enigma


Thomas Moran is an Engineering Manager and Chair of the Analytics team at Enigma. His past work includes missile defense engineering at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, nanostructure research at UMass Amherst, environmental informatics at UC Berkeley, and a few years as the front-person for a modestly successful indie rock band. One thing he loves about his current role is that he gets to tackle a huge variety of data challenges, but he has a simple mantra to distill this complexity: "Enigma is a data linkage company."

Deepti Deshpande

Data Engineer, Spotify


Deepti Deshpande is a Data Engineer, architecting and building big data solutions at Spotify for the past 2 years. Her past industry experience includes building ETL tools at WalmartLabs and Tesco, designing High Performance forecasting algorithms at Southwest Airlines and implementing Image Analysis softwares at ISRO. Deepti has a Masters of Science in Machine Learning from the University of Texas.
